Twas the night before Drew got his upper braces removed, and Drew's mirth is intrepid
for his teeth are no longer moving, not even a bicuspid.
To his fangs were glued brackets of plastic,
and then tightened to high hell, with steel wires and elastic.
Not before pondering doctor's magic tricks,
dropping some G's on Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics.
Groping to purchase straighter pearlies in no time,
what was promised to be six months turned out to be nine. (ok ten - shut up, I'm rhyming!)
During inpatient surgery arose such a clatter!
Of a laser scalpel drilling holes in bone matter!
"Now Maxillary central incisor! Now Mandibular lateral incisor! Now Maxillary canine and first premolar!
On Mandibular second premolar! On Mandibular canine! On Maxillary and Mandibular first second and third molars!"
Straighten and widen with all your might!
Push all the way to a class 'A' bite!"
A twist and a crunch of the pliers sends bracket shards flying,
Then whizzing and polishing, faces anterior shining.
A burden is lifted. He's not felt this free in a while.
Cocoon is half open! Get out in the world and just smile.
(that's dactyllic pentameter, beeyotch!)

What genius.....!!! :-) I'm happy for you son, and hope you're pleased with the results. I guess I'll see for myself in a few days...vroom, vroom....but elegantly and safely.
ReplyDeletethanks Padre! altho i rhymed too soon...cause they only took off half the wires and did impressions for retainers. retainers will take 10 days to make, THEN it's removal time...so you'll see my half-wired brackets after all.
ReplyDeleteWow I am supposed to get the AOO surgery after my braces for TMJ. I am so scared about the surgery your blog has been helpful although the photos of your gums did freak me out a bit. Did you just want the braces and AOO to have straight teeth or did you have other issues? Are you happy with the results of AOO and would you recommend it? I am a bit worried about the pain though I have a high pain tolerance and the soft foods really seems like a bummer. Was is difficult for you?
