Cocoon opens half-way next week....

I've been neglecting to update you blagospheroids, so I apologize. As my post title indicates, yes, indeed, I do have pretty big news to share...

I went to the ortho last Tuesday, and the doc was actually disappointed that my upper teeth weren't ready and they couldn't remove the brackets to cast molds for the retainer. I almost laughed at him, because he saw the almost Michael Strahan style gap growing between my front two teeth, but did nothing to address it. As Einstein says “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” They ended up connecting my front 4 teeth with a "power chain" of connected rubber bands, and the space between my teeth closed within a few hours. It was odd to me that they moved so fast. I thought my teeth moved slowly....

SO! A week from today I go in and get the uppers off (I'm still not betting on it though). I'm not quite sure how to treat this, because I wasn't expecting my cocoon to open half-way. I must confess that I've practically been living a half-cocoon lifestyle for the last few weeks. I've been drinking Octoberfest beer (by far my favorite style all year....so malty and grainy and delicious!), I haven't been running as consistently (after I tripped on a root and ate it on my trail run, I've been a wuss, and it's too cold and dark in the mornings...) AND I went on a date (OK, SHOOT HIM! -Lloyd Christmas).

I think all of these developments are a sign of impatience. Maybe a sign of readiness to be released from my constraints - either real, imaginary, or self imposed - and get back out there in the real world. Either way, this wasn't quite the sprint to the cocoon finish that I had imagined.

I still plan to take "after" pictures when my braces are off and post those, but they will serve as my "before" pictures for the P90X program...because in my mind this cocoon transformation is not near complete. I plan on hitting P90X really hard, and I think as my new mini-project, it will provide a clearer goal and means to achieve that goal than my current fitness regimen. And, I do enjoy beers and dates, so hopefully we'll enjoy some of those in moderation. awwwww yeah.
