don't really know who's reading anymore besides my folks (hey madre and padre) but i thought i'd sneak another post in for August.
i had a solid evening hanging out with Ben on Tuesday night, and we prayed a bit together. that helped me gain some perspective.
Saturday night after hanging out with Ben, Souly and Sarah, i was walking to the corner in Clarendon looking for a cab, and an extreeeemly drunk girl was walking in front of me. It was about 11:30, and as she stumbled past a restaurant patio full of people she turned every head and started at least 5 conversations that I could enjoy in passing at that distance. When everyone saw her fall at the corner of the street I said, ok, fine, i'll help this girl....i hold her hand cause she can barely stand, and say, "hey where are you going, lets get you a cab" assuming she's going home. i ask her "where do you live" several times and she doesn't answer. a cab comes, i get her in it and i'm standing in the door leaning down to make sure the driver understands where she's supposed to go. she then says "Lucky Bar!" to the driver. i laugh at her and say "no way. you are going home. where do you live! what's your address?" Then she says "ohh! ok, i have an address...18th and M!" (which is Lucky Bar's address). sigh. I chuckled, shook my head, and closed the cab door to let her get on her way. Drunk girl is too dumb to be helped. Well God speed and good riddance...for her sake, i hope she threw up in the cab and he dropped her off somewhere else.
i'm getting more and more interested in this P90X idea...it might be the extra "vision" i need to see me through the rest of the cocoon.
i went to the chiropractor/massage therapist today to get my IT bands worked on...my IT band is cinched up like a piece of cooked bacon. at one point i thought the therapist had poked his hand through the muscle...it felt like he was Neo and I was Trinity in that weird scene where Neo puts his hand in her binary code Matrix chest and pumps her heart with his hand....except he's pushing my IT band. but i digress. i'm allowed to run 2 miles tomorrow and work up the distance from there, with another appointment in 2 weeks. fingers crossed i can run now, because the weather will just be getting good for it with cooler mornings in September.

I read. And I have strong feelings against a chiropractor (no offense to anyone who might be one in your family), but I think they're a crock. Drunk girl eh? You could have told her your name was Don Juan... probably would have believed you in that state of mind.... Smooches, J Krapes
ReplyDeleteYou proved, again, the integrity and grace with which you live your live, via how you tried to help that poor young woman....what a man. :-)
ReplyDeletethanks padre :)
ReplyDeleteand Johnny Cupcakes, i will fight you over chiropractors. not because there is one in my family, but because i've had serious positive results.
for example - back in '92 in Mexico i got food poisoning. i was there on vacation. a Chiropractor at my dad's conference adjusted me the morning after i threw up all night with a few crazy back cracks, and i wasn't ill any more. explain THAT! ha.
i second the legitimacy of chiropractors. i mean they are LEGIT. im reading:)
