Cocoon extension...

Went to the Doc on Tuesday. For the life of me I can't pin those guys down on a time estimate. This time I prodded a little more and got the response "your bones are strong and dense, and it is important to move them slowly so that the fibers stay strong and there isn't resorption....yada yada." My lower right canine isn't turning, either, so they had to put a special anchor around that bracket to help twist the tooth, using a wire instead of a rubber band - hello wax, cause that crap is scratchy.
Also, they look at my models now and say "yeah, that's surgical though. It's up to him." This also isn't what I want to hear. (my first reaction is "I FLIPPIN HAD SURGERY! NEED ME TO SHOW YOU THE BILL YOU CHARGED ME?") This means that my bite is still class C (my molars, when all is said and done, are still likely to be aligned in an underbite).
That doesn't bother me so much, because my chewing surfaces are fine - I just want straight teeth (*bing*). I'm disappointed with two things, though - 1) the doc said he thought he could get me to a class A bite 2) in 4-5 months. The technician said at my next appointment we'll see how well the canine responds, and after that give a time estimate. I'm guessing it'll be 8 months at this point. Sweet mercy, that's September.
Let's discuss fun events that I will likely get to experience in braces: Caroline's wedding, Becca's wedding, 4th of July, my 25th birthday, Logie's Vegas bachelor party, Tommy G's wedding, and Logan's wedding. sigh. gosh I hope it doesn't take that long.

Maybe God is making my teeth move slower until I release the self-consciousness. When I lock it up and quit being a timid pansy, maybe they'll move right away. Maybe I just need to get out there - like Lieutenant Dan in the storm.

Yesterday was National Day of Prayer, and Beth Moore came to speak at the Pentagon. My mom has done many of her bible studies and loves her - and I can totally see why. She is RAD, and brings the WORD. She said something that I will remember: God is as powerful in His providence as He is in the miraculous. mm. It makes you think about the every-day blessings and comforts differently.

Sooo, that's where I'm at. Throw on top of that a hectic week at work. A little discouraged. I did get to lift three times and run twice, though.

My brother, Collin, is coming to town this weekend with his wifey, Katie. I'm excited to see them...in fact, they're already here and I'll see them in just over an hour. I know they'll be an encouragement. Sheesh, i've been too busy this week to blog about my awesome Thursday night last week (South American grad school exchange students) and weekend (Kentucky Derby). More to come on those.

  1. It's always fun to hear your ruminations, reflections and mild rantings, son :-)
